As I said, tons of stuff happening.
My best bets are at the showcases. Starting with the Audio Blood Showcase at El Mocambo. This is a stellar, stellar lineup. Leif Vollebekk, We Are The City and Make Your Exit have all been mentioned on the blog before, and The Darcys, Clothes Make the Man and Sandman Viper Command are sure to please.
The CHARTattack Showcase at the Horseshoe Tavern also looks really fantastic. Magneta Lane, Hollerado, Green Go and the Besnard Lakes are all highly acclaimed, and seeing them all together will just make it that much more awesome.
NeXT-at-CMW at the Silver Dollar also looks very promising, with performances by Dinosaur Bones, Still Life Still and the Ghost is Dancing. Having personally seen Dinosaur Bones and Still Life Still perform, and liking the Ghost is Dancing’s latest album, I can safely say this will be a good show to head to.
The show at the Opera House with K-OS, Saukrates and Woodhands is a show that I am going to regret missing for the rest of my life. Having seen K-OS and Woodhands before will make it even harder to forget about this one.
The MuseBox Showcase at Sneaky Dee’s is also looking pretty damn good. The Elwins, Parlovr and Green Go are going to make that a worthwhile show.
The show featuring Mistress Barbara, Beast and Champion is probably going to be really awesome. I still remember how brilliant Beast was the last time I saw them at their tragically-cut-short set at EdgeFest last June.
Also check out the Eye Weekly Showcase at The Garrison- it features First Rate People, a band featuring one of my classmates, Cadence Weapon, awesome rapper and poet laureate, as well as Fields of Fur, a band featuring Holy Fuck’s Brian Borcherdt.
Finally, the Arts & Crafts Showcase at the Great Hall, while only featuring three artists, should be well worth the time. The combination of Sally Seltmann, Dan Mangan and Timber Timbre will be unbeatable. I think I’ve probably gushed over Mangan a million times, and Timber Timbre put out a spectacular release last year. Would not miss this.
With all these recommendations, you may need to invent a cloning machine in order to see all of these amazing shows happening at the same time.
